Psycho-Educational Assessment

Psycho-Educational Assessment Edmonton – Learning Disability & Academic Testing

Is your child struggling in school despite trying hard? Do you suspect a learning disability?

A psycho-educational assessment provides clear answers about your child’s learning strengths, weaknesses, and any underlying disorders affecting their academic performance.

Insight’s psychologists in Edmonton and Calgary conduct comprehensive testing to identify:

  • Learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia)
  • Intellectual delays or giftedness
  • Memory and attention issues
  • Academic skill gaps that need support

A formal assessment provides the documentation needed for classroom accommodations (extra time on tests, use of technology, etc.), special education funding, and a clear path forward.

What is a Psycho-Educational Assessment?

A psycho-educational assessment is comprehensive testing conducted by a psychologist to understand how your child learns. It measures cognitive abilities (IQ), academic skills, memory, attention, and processing speed.

A Psycho-Educational Assessment Includes:

  • One-on-one testing sessions with your child
  • Parent and teacher questionnaires
  • Review of school records and report cards
  • Detailed written report with diagnoses, recommendations, and accommodation strategies
