Ashley Mielke

Registered Psychologist

(She/Her)

I believe that life happens fast, and that every person carries their own personal experiences. I understand that reaching out for support can feel extremely vulnerable, and that it takes a lot of courage. In my experience, there can be a lot of shame and stigma surrounding asking other people for help when things aren’t going well.

I also believe that everyone has strengths, and the ability to create meaningful change in their own lives. I see my role, as a therapist, as someone who can help people see this in themselves and support them in finding ways to make these positive changes happen.

Please note that Cody can work with children aged 10 and up upon request.

More About Ashley Mielke

“Through my own healing journey, I developed an overwhelming desire to help others move beyond the pain caused by loss”.

I am a Registered Psychologist and Founder of The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre: a multi-location, large group private practice with locations across Alberta. I am an international speaker, trainer, and thought leader on grief, and a business consultant for therapists who are seeking to grow and scale their group practices. I am also a wife, mother of two boys, and Doctor of Psychology Candidate at California Southern University.

Driven to inspire and infuse others with courage and strength, my career passions were sparked early. Following a difficult childhood, overshadowed by my father’s substance abuse and eventual suicide, I came to discover that the darkest and most painful period of my life was, in fact, the very catalyst of my calling. It led me to uncover my “WHY” and realize God’s mission for my own life: to serve others and create a safe space to explore life’s most challenging questions.

In the process of living out my purpose, I co-authored an eBook titled, “Postpartum Grief”, and has been a frequent media contributor. I have been featured in Edify Magazine, Huffington Post Canada, Canadian Funeral News, Canadian Living, and Edmonton Lifestyle News. In 2021, I was honoured to be named as one of Edify’s Top 40 Under 40 and most recently, I was featured as a grief expert in a TELUS Optik TV docuseries called “The Magazine
Club”.

When I am not in the office mentoring my team, consulting to help therapists with their practices, or speaking at events and conferences, I can be found at the rink playing hockey, soaking in time with my family, or exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Hawaii: a place that I hold dear to her heart.

I am a heart-centred and purpose-driven leader who instils hope and healing through my story of resilience and
overcoming. My greatest sense of fulfillment comes from connecting with others and empowering them to uncover the resilience of hope—the hope that can only be found in the midst of great challenges and journeys through grief.
