Insight Psychological Therapists - Meghan Odsen
Meghan Odsen, Registered Provisional Psychologist, MC (She/Her)
I believe life is a journey and everyone’s journey is unique. I believe every person has value and I emphasize meeting clients where they are in their life’s journey to help my clients grow and find success. I also bring empathy, flexibility, and compassion to my work.
More About Meghan Odsen
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist working in clinical/counselling and forensic psychology. I also provide psychological assessments. I have over 17 years of professional experience supporting adults and youth with various mental health and wellness needs. My favourite part of my work is hearing people’s stories and working together to identify strength and resiliency that can be used to help each person grow and overcome difficult circumstances and trauma.
I view counselling as a collaborative process, and I strive to adapt my approach to the unique needs and challenges of each client(s). As a result, I emphasize using a client-centred, systemic, and integrative approach. The theoretical approaches I draw from are cognitive behaviour therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, emotionally focused therapy, feminist therapies, mindfulness therapies, trauma-informed expressive arts therapy, and Gottman method couples therapy.
I am excited to meet you!
A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:
What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?
I like to spend time with my dog and be out in nature. I also like to celebrate small successes and resiliency rather than allow myself to feel overwhelmed by challenges or setbacks.
What has been the most satisfying part of being a psychologist?
I have always wanted to help people. Becoming a psychologist offered me a way to help others grow and improve their lives without forcing me to impose goals or values on them.
