Career/Occupational Assessments

Formal assessments can help to identify your strengths and weaknesses and provide a clearer path forward for your mental health care, return to work, or employment decisions. Insight’s trained therapists provide assessments that assist individuals of all ages to improve their lives. Assessments are helpful in identifying your personal interests, occupational aptitudes, and workplace styles objectively.  While assessments can vary from individual to individual, most times they include testing, interviews, observation, and consultation with one of Insight’s trained professionals.  Many of these assessments can be done as part of therapy but some may require a higher level of formality depending on the level of need and purpose of the assessment.

What is a career/occupational assessment?

There are a variety of evaluation programs available to assist you in discovering your vocational interests and aptitudes. Insight works with you to establish specific educational goals and/or a gratifying career path.

Career/occupational assessments are a series of tests designed to help you understand how your personal attributes (values, motivations, skills, aptitude, interests) impact your potential success and satisfaction with various career options and work environments.

Why is the assessment used?

We spend a significant amount of our lives at work. Ideally, we find a career path that is fulfilling, meaningful, challenging, and allows a comfortable and independent life. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to land a career that meets our expectations. Sometimes we’re not sure about our skills and strengths, making it difficult to choose a career. Other times, we feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices and the pressure to choose the right path. A career/occupational assessment can be a helpful tool in exploring yourself and careers that may be a great fit for you.

FOR INDIVIDUALS, CAREER ASSESSMENTS CAN IDENTIFY

  • Aptitude for a chosen career
  • Personal work patterns and style
  • Career choices that are suitable to your interest and aptitude

FOR EMPLOYERS, CAREER ASSESSMENTS CAN HELP TO:

  • Reduce employee turnover
  • Hire the right candidate for the position
  • Improve retention and enhance performance
  • Ensure a better fit between and employee and their role

GROUP ASSESSMENTS

  • Insight Psychological also offers group assessments to help employers better assess and utilize their human resource capacity and help make better informed decisions regarding placement or team setup.

Insight can also help employers create custom employee evaluations. Please see Insight Corporate Care for additional information on services for employers.
