Insight Psychological Therapists - Clayton Poberezny

Clayton Poberezny, Practicum Intern Therapist, RSW (He/Him)

At times, life can be painful, difficult, and even overwhelming. Sometimes, we just need space with a non-judgmental and caring listener to reflect. In essence, therapy is the partnership between counsellor and client in the spirit of exploration, discovery, and healing, coming together to co-create ideas that will cultivate therapeutic change and goals. As your therapist, I sincerely believe you will endure and thrive if you take the time to nurture your needs and restore your confidence. I will value your input and self-determination, acting more as a guide and collaborator throughout your therapy by helping you to identify your strengths and the resources needed to manage whatever personal challenges you bravely decided to address. As a student counsellor, my overarching goal is to help you grow as a person, provide you unconditional support, and remind you to exercise self-compassion – you’re only human.

*NOTE: Our Practicum Intern (Student) Therapists offer reduced rates for counselling support. Please be aware that FEES WILL BE NON-REIMBURSABLE by Extended Health Care Benefit Plans.

More About Clayton Poberezny

I am a registered social worker, have two degrees, one in Political Science and the other in Social Work, and I am working to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I have had several employment experiences that have led to working with assorted populations within unique settings, like over a decade of experience working with children, youth, and families in various settings and in the field of corrections. School has always been a way for me to ground and re-evaluate and pursue new opportunities, so as a mature student, I pursued counselling to support others therapeutically and now am completing my internship.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I will adapt to the client’s needs and preferences. Common therapies I am more familiar with at this stage are Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Most importantly, I work from a collaborative and strengths-based approach with individuals, employing their distinctive strengths, respecting context and circumstances, working within their frame-of-reference. Everyone has a life story with unique experiences that informs our respective worldview and how we understand ourselves; therefore, coping, growth, and healing is a unique endeavour. With intentionality, the hardships we encounter within our stories is a chance to be more resilient and grateful.

I honour anyone who has the courage for introspection, build self-awareness, and pursue positive change. I trust you will find my approach to be relaxed, non-judgmental, sincere, curious, understanding, and empathetic. Welcome!
