More About Brianna Kamphorst

I use a client-centered, strength-based approach and utilize evidence-based methods including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am currently enrolled in the Play Therapy certification program through The Canadian Association for Play Therapy and have completed levels 2 and 3. I believe that early relationships are a vital contributor to each child’s development and behaviour in life, and that a key piece in those early relationships is the development of play. I have significant experience working with children and teens in schools, homes, group home settings, and a correctional facility. In addition, I have several years of experience working with children and families who have special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in your wellness goals.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:

Brianna, what is your favourite quote?

I have two favorite quotes:

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think”-Christopher Robin

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better”- Maya Angelou

What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?

In order to maintain optimism, I always try to look for the things I am grateful for each day the good in people. By keeping in mind that behaviour serves a function for us all, and in being curious about what that function is, we are better able to achieve  a more neutral, and helpful mindset.
