Luke Suelzle, Practicum Intern Therapist, (He/Him)

Hi! I am a compassionate, empowerment and strengths-focused therapist. Understanding ourselves holistically and deeply is a key part of healing and wellness. Together we will work through the effects of past experiences and how they interplay with our relationships, current functioning and future aspirations as we work towards embracing strength and developing resilience. In a safe, judgement-free space, we will embrace self-discovery and growth as we navigate challenges and create coping strategies that work for you.

More About Luke Suelzle

As a therapist with exposure to Southeast Asian/Filipino culture and a focus on parenting, I bring a unique and inclusive approach to the counseling process. With a focus on psychoanalytic, gestalt, and humanistic/strengths-focused therapies, I am deeply committed to understanding your individual needs and cultural background.

Having worked extensively with individuals, families, and teenagers from diverse backgrounds, I recognize the importance of culturally sensitive therapy. I value the richness of diversity and understand the impact of cultural beliefs and practices on personal experiences and family dynamics. I offer a safe and inclusive space where cultural nuances are acknowledged and respected.

Parenting is a central focus of my practice, as I firmly believe that healthy family dynamics lay the foundation for individual growth and development. Whether you are a parent seeking guidance on effective communication with your teenager, navigating the challenges of parenting in a multicultural context, or dealing with challenges associated with your own parents currently or in the past, I am here to support you. Together, we will explore effective parenting strategies, foster open communication, and strengthen individual resilience and the parent-child bond.

In our sessions, I aim to create a holistic approach to wellness, recognizing that our past experiences, present situations, and future perspectives shape who we are. My strengths-focused approach emphasizes empowering you to tap into your inner resources and resilience, fostering personal growth and healing. I am dedicated to helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, enhancing your coping skills, and achieving positive change.

My goal is to provide a nurturing and non-judgmental environment, where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and cultural identity. By integrating various therapeutic modalities, I tailor our sessions to meet your specific needs and create a therapeutic alliance that fosters trust and openness.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:

What is your favourite quote?

“Its true nature is a mystery, and yet it is a part of me… I wish to understand it. The more I do the less it controls me. One day, who knows, I may even control it.” – Vision (Captain America: Civil War)

What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?

I believe that we all try to do the best we can to help ourselves and those we care about with the tools we have available. Sometimes we need help in recognizing what those tools are and how to use them, and sometime we need to find new tools. As we work on these things, our best becomes better.
