Hello, I have a six year old son who has been diagnosed with Autism, a severe behavior disorder as well as a severe speech delay. He has some sensory issues as well as trouble with social situations. I was wondering if EMDR therapy has ever been attempted on an ASD patient? Thank you, Kristy.

Thank you for turning to Insight Psychological. EMDR has been shown to be successful in treating social anxiety, relational issues, and stress so it may be something worth trying with your son. It is hard to say what will be most helpful until you and your son meet with a therapist to discuss possible treatment plans. I recommend you book an appointment with a therapist at our office who is trained in EMDR and take things from there.
