My adult son requires psychological counselling, but is not covered by any benefit plans. His only recourse is to pay for it and the costs are prohibitive ($350-$400 per session/hour). How can he get this counselling at a reasonable rate? Why aren’t psychologists covered under AHC benefits, like all other medical providers? He can be referred to a psychiatrist, and was, but that was a waste of time for both him and the doctor. The psychiatrist didn’t refer him to psychological counselling, altho it was indicated that was what he needed.
