Introducing Our Helping Children with Loss Group!

Helping Children with Loss
We are excited to introduce our upcoming group Helping Children with Loss!
Helping Children with Loss (HCWL) is a four-week, action-based program designed to equip adults with the tools to help children navigate grief and loss in a healthy, supportive way.

This evidence-based program, developed by the Grief Recovery Institute, helps adults learn how to guide children through grief in a way that fosters healing and resilience.

The sessions include:
✔️ Understanding ineffective ways we’ve been taught to grieve
✔️ Recognizing the impact of grief in children’s lives and becoming an active listener
✔️ Identifying emotional energy children experience around grief events
✔️ Teaching children to give voice to their grief and take steps toward healing

HCWL is for adults – parents and family, teachers, coaches, counselors, youth pastors, juvenile justice staff, daycare providers and others who have, love or work with children/youth.

“Losses are inevitable and cannot be avoided, and we cannot wrap a shield around them and protect them from sad, painful, or negative feelings. The next best thing is for us to learn how to help them when events and circumstances occur that create the normal and natural emotions of grief or loss.

Our ability to guide children effectively in dealing with all of the changes in their lives, occasioned by losses large and small, will enhance their ability to participate fully in life.”
