More About Zoe Liston

My approach to therapy is rooted in collaboration, connection, and authenticity. I believe that working on ourselves happens in a space where we feel seen, heard, and empowered. By working together, we can explore challenges, uncover strengths, and move towards greater clarity and self-understanding. I have experience working with teens and adults in community, in-patient, and correctional settings. I take a client-centred approach and have experience using evidence-based methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

I look forward to meeting with you and supporting you through your therapeutic journey!

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS

What is your favourite quote?

From a young age, something my dad told me was “seek first to understand before being understood”. Although I may not have fully appreciated this sentiment until I was older, it has shaped how I approach my relationships. Taking another person’s perspective and asking questions to further understand them is huge in avoiding miscommunication and deepening a connection with someone. If we all sought first to understand, I believe our world would be a lot more kind.

What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?

I am a huge gratitude person. It seems like such a simple task to be grateful, but often we can get busy or distracted and forget to take time to reflect on what is going well for us. Ending my day with gratitude is one of my favourite practices to stay grounded and appreciate the little things throughout my day.
