Insight Psychological Therapists - Justine Richard

Headshot of Justine Richard - Registered Provisional Therapist
Justine Richard, Registered Provisional Psychologist, BA, MC (She/Her)

I bring both personal experience and professional expertise to trauma and grief work. Having navigated my own journey through early loss and difficult relationships, I understand firsthand the path toward healing. As a trauma-informed therapist specializing in attachment-related concerns, I work with adults addressing early-life wounds, relationship challenges, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, and experiences of abuse.

My approach balances directness and compassion with appropriate levity. Authentic and wholehearted, I create an environment where clients can face difficult truths while finding moments of humour and ease. When not in session, you might find me tending my garden, gaming, sewing, or indulging my love of reality TV and live music.

You can book a session with me through my The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre booking link below! Sessions will take place at Insight Psychological and The Grief and Trauma Healing Centre’s joint Sherwood Park location.

More About Justine Richard

Trauma and grief are two types of experiences I have known for a long time. A difficult home life and early loss led to a lifelong journey in dealing with these experiences. Most especially, the loss of my father led to my desire to understand more about human experiences and suffering at a young age, awakening a calling that has led me here today. We are often driven to helping others because we first had to help ourselves, and after a lifetime of walking through my own trauma and grief journey, I might be the right person to assist you in walking through your journey. As a trauma-informed therapist, I aim to help empower clients and to be attuned to their needs as best I can.

I have several years of experience in domestic violence intervention, helping to empower victims to regain control over their lives and find a path to healing. I’ve also provided counselling services in private practice and university settings, which included individual counselling, group facilitation, and mental health presentations.

I work with individual adults and utilize the following evidence-based approaches primarily in my work with clients: Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT). I also integrate other modalities into my service delivery as needed, including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
