Insight Psychological Therapists - Anika Kubalik
Anika Kubalik, Practicum Intern Therapist, BA, MACP
Hello and welcome, whether this is your first time exploring therapy or another step along your journey. Wherever you are, taking this step is meaningful. I believe everyone deserves to feel truly heard and supported, and to have the space, time, and care needed to work through life’s challenges so they can feel more mentally healthy and empowered in their everyday life.
Using a client-centred and collaborative approach, along with a range of evolving therapeutic modalities, I hope to work with you toward your goals, aspirations, and concerns. Together, we can build a greater sense of confidence and grounding as you navigate whatever you may be facing.
NOTE: Our Practicum Intern (Student) Therapists offer reduced rates for counselling support. Please be aware that FEES WILL BE NON-REIMBURSABLE by Extended Health Care Benefit Plans.
More About Anika Kubalik
I see therapy as a collaborative journey that is built on trust, curiosity, and connection. I deeply believe that meaningful change happens through patience, empathy, and kindness, not just through words, but as something you genuinely feel in the room. My goal is always to create an accessible experience for all where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self and sharing openly without judgment or fear.
In sessions, I aim to balance reflection with practical support. I see you as the leader in your own process and will walk alongside you, offering guidance and perspective along the way. Together, we might explore patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, while also building tools you can use in your everyday life.
When working through difficult or overwhelming topics, I often draw on emotion regulation and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) strategies to help create a sense of steadiness and safety. This can include developing skills to manage intense emotions, tolerate distress, and stay present in the moment, making it feel more manageable to explore challenging experiences and helping you build confidence in navigating future challenges on your own.
Based on my extensive experience working with teens and their families, I try to bring a calm, approachable presence to every session, and I’m not afraid of a bit of humour when it fits. I know reaching out can be tough, so I try to meet you where you’re at and move at a pace that feels right for you. Regardless of what you are navigating, be it a challenge, a transition, or just trying to understand yourself better, I aim to support you in a way that feels meaningful and manageable.
A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS
What do you do to keep your outlook optimistic?
“I keep my outlook optimistic by staying grounded in small, meaningful moments, both in my work and in my everyday life. Seeing the resilience people carry, even in difficult situations, is a constant reminder that change is possible. I also make time to slow down, stay present, and recharge through connection and simple routines. Holding onto patience, empathy, and a bit of humour helps me maintain perspective and balance.”
What has been the most satisfying part of being a psychologist?
“The most satisfying part of being a psychologist is witnessing people grow in ways that matter to them. Whether it’s someone gaining insight, feeling more confident, or simply finding a bit more steadiness in their day-to-day life, those moments feel meaningful. Although I am only a small part of the journey, it is a privilege to be trusted with people’s stories and to walk alongside them as they navigate challenges and move toward the life they want.”
