We can help

If something feels off, it probably is.

Everyone has hard days. But when low mood, low energy, or loss of interest starts affecting your work, your relationships, your sleep, or your ability to just feel like yourself for more than a couple of weeks, that’s when it’s time to get some support. The sooner you get support, the sooner you can start feeling like yourself again.

The sooner you get support, the sooner you can start feeling like yourself again.

What Therapy for Adult Depression Actually Looks Like

We Meet You Where You Are

and we work at your pace.

Our therapists work with adults across all stages of life and use a range of evidence-based approaches depending on your history, needs, and goals.

Approaches we use:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Helps you identify and shift the thought patterns that fuel depression, and build practical strategies for everyday life.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Encourages clients to accept the difficulties and misfortunes of life. Clients learn coping techniques to not dwell on negative emotions by staying in the present.

Mindfulness Therapy

An approach to treatment that focuses on how people’s thoughts, emotions, and beliefs influence their behaviour and how they perceive themselves, others, and the world. The ability to be in the moment and to acknowledge and regulate your emotions helps you to break free from negative thought patterns.

Your therapist will always tailor their approach to what works best for you specifically.

We've Thought About Everything So You Don't Have To

Why Clients Choose Insight for Their Mental Health

Most clients are seen within the same week, waiting shouldn’t be part of it.

Our therapists have specific training and experience working with adults of all ages struggling with their mental health.

Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife and more. Most extended health plans also cover our services.

We offer counselling at reduced rates through our Master’s level practicum therapists, so cost is never a barrier to getting help.

We have locations in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Calgary. Online sessions are also available if that works better for you.

We know that the relationship between a client and their therapist matters above everything else. We’ll take the time to find the right fit.

We Know You Have Questions. Here Are the Ones We Hear Most.

Questions Clients Often Ask

How do I know if this is just a rough patch or something I should get help for?

If low mood, low energy, or loss of interest is affecting your work, relationships, sleep, or ability to enjoy your life for more than a couple of weeks, that’s a sign it’s worth getting a professional opinion. You don’t need to wait until things get worse; early support makes a significant difference.

Most clients get their first appointment within the same week of reaching out. Many of our therapists also offer evening and weekend appointments, so you can find a time that works around your job or family schedule. Call us at (780) 461-1717 or book online, and we’ll match you with someone who has room to see you soon.

Most extended health benefit plans cover psychological care services. We can direct bill several major insurers, including Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, Sun Life Manulife and Greenshield, so you may not have to pay out of pocket. For plans we can’t direct bill, we provide a receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Alberta Health Care does not cover private therapy, so we recommend confirming your specific plan’s coverage, or call us and we’ll help you check before you book.

You don’t need to know which modality is right for you before you start, and most people don’t. Our therapists work from an integrative approach, meaning they draw on multiple methods (like CBT, EMDR, or mindfulness-based therapy) and tailor the mix to what you actually need, rather than fitting you into one framework. If you’re not sure where to start, our short online matching quiz can point you toward a good fit, or you can call us and describe what you’re going through and we’ll take it from there.

For common concerns like anxiety, everyday stress, and depression, research shows online and in-person therapy produce similar results. A 2023 meta-analysis of more than 60 randomized controlled trials found no statistically significant difference in outcomes between video-based and in-person CBT. Some services, like psychological assessments (ADHD or autism testing, for example) and certain trauma work, are usually still better done in person. We offer both formats, so you can choose what fits your comfort and schedule.
