is CBT A GOOD FIT?

Does any of this sound familiar?

You’re not the only one stuck in these patterns.

If any of these sound familiar, CBT may be worth exploring.

What CBT actually looks like

Practical, Structured, and Focused on Today

You’ll work on specific goals, one step at a time.

CBT looks at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours connect. Sessions focus mainly on what you’re experiencing now and on skills you can practice in daily life.

Here is a simple example. A friend doesn’t reply to your message. One reading is “they’re upset with me.” Another is “they’re busy.” The event is the same, but the feelings that follow are very different. CBT helps you notice which reading you reach for automatically, check whether it holds up, and try other ways of responding.

What you might work on:

Spotting thought patterns

Notice the automatic thoughts that shape how you feel in a given moment.

Testing and rebalancing thoughts

Look at whether a thought fits the facts, and build more flexible alternatives.

Facing what you avoid

Take gradual steps toward situations that feel difficult, at a pace you help set. This can include exposure therapy.

Relaxation and breathing skills

Learn techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation and deep breathing to settle stress in the body.

Journaling and practice between sessions

Use short exercises, like thought records, to carry the work into everyday life.

CBT can be used on its own or alongside other approaches, such as EMDR or mindfulness therapy. Your therapist will tailor the plan to you.

The sooner you start, the sooner you can build skills for handling what comes up.

Questions Clients Often Ask

How do I know if CBT is right for me?

You don’t need to decide on your own. CBT suits people who want a structured, skills-based approach and are open to practising between sessions. Our short matching quiz can point you to a good fit, or you can call us and describe what you’re going through.

Most clients get their first appointment within a few days of reaching out.
