Does Any of This Sound Like You?

You're Not Imagining It

and you’re not alone in feeling this way.

If any of these sound familiar, we can help. Everyone has odd or upsetting thoughts sometimes. It may be OCD when the thoughts feel stuck, you feel driven to do something to get rid of them, and it takes up a lot of your time or gets in the way of your life.

When Should You Reach Out?

We can help

OCD is about more than being a perfectionist or dealing with anxiety. It has a way of disrupting your everyday life. Living with OCD can make doing everyday tasks such as washing your hands, brushing your teeth, or even going out to eat with friends and family a very difficult task.

If you feel the need to have everything organized in a very particular way, have a fear of germs, experience relief when you complete certain tasks every day, or have uncontrollable behaviors and thoughts, it may be time to seek help.

The sooner you get support, the sooner you can start feeling relief.

What OCD Therapy Actually Looks Like

We Meet You Where You Are

and we work at your pace.

Our therapists work with adults across all stages of life and use a range of evidence-based approaches depending on your history, needs, and goals.

Approaches we use:

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

A structured, evidence-based therapy for OCD. With a therapist guiding the pace, you gradually face the thoughts or situations that set off your OCD while practicing not doing the ritual. The goal is to build a different relationship with the urge, so it has less control over your day.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Helps you identify and shift the thought patterns that fuel worry and anxiety, and build practical coping skills for everyday life.

Mindfulness Therapy

An approach to treatment that focuses on how people’s thoughts, emotions, and beliefs influence their behaviour and how they perceive themselves, others, and the world. The ability to be in the moment and to acknowledge and regulate your emotions helps you to break free from negative thought patterns.

Your therapist will always tailor their approach to what works best for you specifically.

We've Thought About Everything So You Don't Have To

Why Clients Choose Insight to Help With OCD

Many clients are seen within a few days of reaching out. Waiting shouldn’t be part of it.

Our therapists have specific training and experience working with adults of all ages struggling with OCD.

Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife and more. Most extended health plans also cover our services.

We offer counselling at reduced rates through our Master’s level practicum therapists, so cost is never a barrier to getting help.

We have locations in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Calgary. Online sessions are also available if that works better for you.

We know that the relationship between a client and their therapist matters above everything else. We’ll take the time to find the right fit.

We Know You Have Questions. Here Are the Ones We Hear Most.

Questions Clients Often Ask

How do I know if this is just anxiety or something I should get help for?

If your symptoms are affecting your work, relationships, sleep, or ability to enjoy your life on a regular basis, that’s a sign it’s worth getting a professional opinion. You don’t need to wait until things get worse; early support makes a significant difference.

Most clients get their first appointment within a few days of reaching out. Many of our therapists also offer evening and weekend appointments, so you can find a time that works around your job or family schedule. Call us at (780) 461-1717 and we’ll match you with someone who has room to see you soon.

Most extended health benefit plans cover psychological care services. We can direct bill several major insurers, including Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, Sun Life Manulife and Greenshield, so you may not have to pay out of pocket. For plans we can’t direct bill, we provide a receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Alberta Health Care does not cover private therapy, so we recommend confirming your specific plan’s coverage, or call us and we’ll help you check before you book.

You don’t need to know which modality is right for you before you start, and most people don’t. Our therapists work from an integrative approach, meaning they draw on multiple methods (like CBT, EMDR, or mindfulness-based therapy) and tailor the mix to what you actually need, rather than fitting you into one framework. If you’re not sure where to start, our short online matching quiz can point you toward a good fit, or you can call us and describe what you’re going through and we’ll take it from there.
