Does Any of This Sound Like Your family?

Whatever Your Family is Working Through, You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone.

our specialized therapists are here to help.

If any of these sound familiar, we can help.

When Should You Reach Out?

We can help

There’s no threshold of ‘bad enough’ your family needs to hit before family counselling can help. Some families come to us during a hard stretch, others come to get ahead of something before it grows, or simply to build stronger communication as things change.

There’s no wrong time to reach out, whether things have been hard for a while or you’re just noticing the first signs of strain.

What family Counselling Actually Looks Like

We Meet You Where You Are

and we work at your pace.

Our therapists work with the whole family, or whichever combination of family members makes sense, and adapt their approach to your family’s specific needs and dynamics.

Approaches we use:

Family Systems Therapy

Looks at the family as one emotional unit. This therapeutic approach examines the relationships within the family and the family’s overall structure.

Structural Family Therapy

Involves looking at the structures within the family unit. Changing the underlying structure tends to cause a ripple effect on the family. This therapy analyzes the hierarchical structure, subsystems and boundaries within the family.

Strategic Family Therapy

A type of therapy where the therapist is a problem-solver and focuses on finding solutions to client’s challenges.

Your therapist will always follow your lead on what you want to work on.

Why Clients Choose Insight

Most clients are seen within the same week, waiting shouldn’t be part of it.

Our therapists have specific training and experience helping families navigate conflict, transitions, and everyday friction.

Alberta Blue Cross, Greenshield, Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife and more. Most extended health plans also cover our services.

We offer counselling at reduced rates through our Master’s level accredited Therapists, so cost is never a barrier to getting help.

We have five convenient locations across Edmonton. Online sessions are also available if that works better for you.

We know that the relationship between a client and their therapist matters above everything else. We’ll take the time to find the right fit.

We Know You Have Questions. Here Are the Ones We Hear Most.

Questions Clients Often Ask

Do we need to be in crisis to start family counselling?

No. Some families come to us during a difficult time, others come to strengthen relationships that are already working, or to navigate a big transition together, like a new baby, a move, or blending two households.

Most clients get their first appointment within the same week of reaching out. Many of our therapists also offer evening and weekend appointments, so you can find a time that works around your job or family schedule. Call us at (780) 461-1717 or book online, and we’ll match you with someone who has room to see you soon.

Most extended health benefit plans cover psychological care services. We can direct bill several major insurers, including Alberta Blue Cross, Canada Life, Sun Life Manulife and Greenshield, so you may not have to pay out of pocket. For plans we can’t direct bill, we provide a receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Alberta Health Care does not cover private therapy, so we recommend confirming your specific plan’s coverage, or call us and we’ll help you check before you book.

Not necessarily. Some sessions include the whole family, others focus on a specific relationship, like a parent and one child, or include individual sessions as part of the process. Your therapist will help figure out what combination makes sense for your family.
