More about Terri Ward

I obtained my Bachelor of Social Worker (BSW) in 2002, along with my status as a Registered Social Worker.  I am currently pursuing my MA in Counselling Psychology with Insight Psychological Services being my practicum placement.  I have worked as a Registered Social Worker in a variety of sites and roles.  I have been privileged to gain front line experience and leadership skills from my past work experience.  My roles have included Family Community Liaison Worker, Family Preservation Worker, Assessor/Investigator, Case Management, Crisis/Triage Worker, Mental Health Therapist/Clinician (10 years), Mental Health Team Lead and Practice Lead (3 years), Professional Practice Lead – Social Work (Covenant Health), as well as Social Worker at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  In addition, I have worked in both urban and rural settings, both in community settings (educational facilities, justice, government agencies, and mental health) and in hospital settings (emergency, acute, and outpatient clinics).

My areas of expertise include anxiety disorders including panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety.  Also, separation, divorce, self-esteem, trauma, abuse, depression, and phase of life stressors.  In 2017, I became a certified specialist in the grief recovery model which has advanced my skills in helping clients resolve issues related to grief and loss.  I’ve trained in Cognitive Behaviourla Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman (Level 1 Training), Play Therapy (Level 1 Training), MBSR, Schema Therapy, and I am a Grief Recovery Specialist.
