More about Nikesha Deenoo

I am in my final year of completing my Masters of Counselling Psychology Degree from City University of Seattle’s Edmonton Campus. In my undergraduate studies, I completed a Bachelors of Arts, with a major in Psychology from the University of Alberta. Previously, I have assisted clients who have experienced sexual abuse, children/youth/adults with disabilities, inter/intra personal conflict, domestic violence, childhood trauma, addictions, significant mental health issues, poverty, homelessness and transiency. Additionally, I have experience in providing services to clients in high conflict situations. Typically, I have a direct, holistic, and compassionate style with my clients.

My interests and areas of specialization include trauma, abuse, grief and loss, sexuality, individual, group, family and couples counselling. I am also interested in assessments involving children and families, neurocognitive, parenting and forensic assessments.  Theoretically, I utilize a psychodynamic approach in working with clients. I focus on relationships that my clients have with themselves, and others, and their ways of relating to the complex world around them.  All individuals are unique and, therefore, there is something amazing about having a deeper understanding of the whole person, accepting them as they are, and empowering them to change what they can in their own way and in their own time.
