More about Navpreet Johal

I truly believe that connectedness promotes a great sense of well-being of overall health and wellness. Providing awareness in understanding what we think, feel and believe affects our wellness. In therapy, I provide a safe environment where clients can explore their challenges or feelings of suffering. I can help clients to reach their full potential and regain balance in their life.

I specialize in psycho-educational assessments for children and adults, including: giftedness, learning challenges including ADHD as well as other socio-emotional and behavioural concerns. Psychological assessments support families and schools with practical information to identify individuals’ areas of strengths and growth.

I bring enthusiasm, openness, acceptance, and authenticity to my work with clients. Living in various cultures, I understand how culture can impact individuals, therefore I strive to understand client’s worldviews and utilize that in therapy.

I draw from a solution focused approach to help clients recognize and build on their own strengths to get through current difficulties. I support individuals by using different therapeutic approaches such as: mindfulness, narrative and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

I speak and work in English, Punjabi and Urdu.

In my spare time, I enjoy music, dancing, reading, and keep myself active by playing scotch.

Navpreet, have you, or anyone close to you, had to overcome any trauma, or mental health challenge?

Not me but my close friend had to overcome the trauma after her sister died of suicide, after it took a toll on her mental health and it took a while to recover from the traumatic experience. Seeing this, I saw the challenges of overcoming trauma and mental health challenges, resulting in how much a person can grow from them.

What do you think the world needs more of?

The world needs validation, reflective listening and equalization.
