More about Karen Gaudin

Regarding my educational background, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts – Honors Psychology degree from MacEwan University back in 2010. I was fortunate enough to conduct my own thesis research with my honors psychology professor in the area of student alcoholism, which is now a published manuscript in multiple psychology journals. I am currently completing my third and final year of my Masters of Counselling degree through City University of Seattle and I will be graduated this upcoming Summer 2020. Thereafter the main goal is to register as a psychologist. I have worked and specialized in the field of addiction for over ten years, but am very interested in offering my services for a large variety of mental health issues moving forward. My passion is psychology; I feel very confident in my career choice and am very eager and enthusiastic to finally be doing what I believe I am truly meant to do.

My primary grounding theories that I most identify with are Rogerian/Client Centered/Person Centered and Gestalt, but I also have interests and am familiar with using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Feminist Therapy and Solution Focused. I am also very interested in working with clients who have experienced trauma, and I hope to attend training on EMDR in the near future. I promote that all my clients be the best and most authentic version of themselves and I believe that pathology can occur due to an individual being forced into being someone that they are truly not. I want to promote your journey of self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-discovery.  As your therapist, I will NOT try to fix you, I will not give you direct advice, I will not tell you what to do, I will not assume what is best for you, I will not have all the answers or promise to make the hard stuff go away. But I will however, sit WITH you on your therapeutic journey and I am absolutely honored to do so.
