Evangeline Barrow, Student,

I am in the final year of both my Master of Counselling degree through Athabasca University and my Advanced Art Therapy Diploma through the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. I believe that people are innately strong and resourceful and I am committed to providing the support and nurturing necessary for people to live their best lives.

More about Evangeline Barrow

My counselling approach can be described as person-centered and strength-based. I thoughtfully employ art in my work with clients to help them explore issues and goals, and to promote communication and emotional expression. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral and narrative techniques to promote positive therapeutic outcomes.

I have experience developing and facilitating group therapy sessions. I have also worked individually with clients who experience depression, anxiety, grief, identity issues, and the effects of abuse. During my time at Insight Psychological, I have gained experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults, specifically those who experience anxiety. I have also worked extensively with post-secondary students to help them identify and develop vocational goals and plans, including financial planning.

I believe in the importance of support, collaboration, flexibility, creativity and openness in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to embody these values by recognizing each person’s uniqueness and working with them to create the change they want to see.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
