More about Deb Johansson

I am a Registered Psychologist in both Alberta and Northwest Territories, and a Masters trained Marital and Family Therapist.  I have over 30 years of experience in the helping professions, all of it working with children, youth, and their families.  I work from a Bowenian Family Systems perspective, and bring in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, and other pertinent interventions as required given the nature of the difficulties. My clients often present with an array of complex issues, and while these can become longer-term therapeutic relationships, I also work well with short-term, solution-focused strategies to quickly move toward healing and resolution.

I have special interest in working in the areas of trauma including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, grief and loss, work-related stress including vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout, and social justice issues, and I can work with individuals or groups.
