More about Cybil Varughese

In my professional background, I have worked with adults in an outpatient setting at the University of Alberta (Psychiatric Treatment Clinic) using a psychodynamic approach by getting clients to associate how their unconscious drives can inform their present conscious thoughts. I have worked in short-term settings by offering crisis support by working at the Distress Line as a Help Lines Support Worker and services in the hospital when individuals were suicidal or needing help as they were undergoing psychosis (by providing Solution Focused Therapy). I have worked with children who were autistic by working with them 1-1 in their home environment and in a group setting within the Centre for Autism and with children with physical disabilities within Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area. I also have helped lead adult and children groups at CASA for those with trauma and attachment issues. In CASA, I supported therapists and parents by offering informative resources within the community and by using play therapy techniques. In addition to the therapies listed on my profile, I also practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
