Showing up for yourself is something to be proud of. The journey that you are about to take towards self-growth highlights your courage and resilience. On this journey, you may require support. My goal is to be a part of your support system. I believe that the first step towards helping you achieve your goals is to develop a strong therapeutic relationship, built once I have earned your trust. You are the expert in your own life, so my role is to provide compassion, feedback, and strategies that compliment your own strengths and skills.

More About Bryan Halabi

When working with clients, I utilize a holistic approach and incorporate theory and strategies from a variety of treatment modalities. While my default approach is client-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I understand the strong connection between the mind and body. Therefore, I incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-processing (EMDR), somatic experiencing, and mindfulness-based techniques within my practice. Attachment theory, solution-focused, and narrative therapy also have a strong influence on my counseling methods. Ultimately, I believe that counselling is about meeting the client where they are at, and I will thus modify and adapt my treatment approach throughout the counselling process based on the needs of the client.

I enjoy working with diverse populations and am competent in multi-cultural counselling. Being a second-generation immigrant, I understand the complexity that can sometimes accompany the topic of mental health in different cultures. In addition to working with individual adults and couples, I have years of experience working within the school system and am adept at working with older children and adolescents. I have successfully worked with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and trauma. In session, I bring empathy, patience, and humor to support and nourish client growth.

Thank you for having the courage to be vulnerable in an effort to optimize your life. I wish you success in your journey of reaching your full potential.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS

Bryan, have you, or anyone close to you, had to overcome any trauma, or mental health challenge?

Most definitely. I think it’s more difficult to find someone who has not had to overcome any trauma or mental health challenges than it is to find someone who has. Everyone in my immediate family, including myself, has struggled with mental health. On top of that, both of my parents immigrated from a country where mental health concerns were not at all recognized. I can truly empathize with the struggles of untreated mental health issues, as the closest people in my life have lived through this struggle for years.
