More about Bryan Halabi

Change can be very hard at times; however, I believe that everyone has the ability to make changes in their life if they are motivated to do so and have strong supports in place. My goal is to be one of the supports that helps the client through this journey. I believe that this starts with a strong therapeutic relationship that is built once I have earned the client’s trust. Clients are experts in their own lives and my role is to provide compassion, feedback, and strategies that complement the client’s own skills. My own personal skills include patience, persistence, and a strong work ethic that I will implement in the counselling process.

My educational experience includes an honors degree in psychology from the University of Alberta as well as current enrollment in the Masters of Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Currently, I work as part of the behavioural support team with the Edmonton Catholic School district. I have worked with children of all ages, but the majority of my experience is with adolescents. The theoretical approaches that I am most drawn to are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), client-centred theory, and trauma informed care. Throughout my practicum, I will continue to study scientifically validated approaches and consult directly with my supervisors for knowledge and guidance.
