There are many reasons why people drink. It is often used as a coping mechanism. It could be used to mask depression, anxiety, frustration… It could also be used as a way to prevent oneself from dealing with life issues. You may have become addicted to alcohol, either physically or psychologically.
If you’re having difficulties with drinking (being able to stop) you may find it useful to come in and speak to a counselor here at Insight (461-1717). You may also find it useful to speak with an AADAC worker (780-427-2736) or attend an AA meeting. If you have hesitations about AA you can tell them that you are a guest and are just curious about what AA is.
