Without taking their meds is going to make caring for children difficult. Children need stability and predictability, so it is important that the individual is on their medication.

On meds, raising children will still be difficult at times (as it is with all parents), but someone with bipolar can still be a great parent. As I recomend to all parents, the more support you have from friends and family, the better.

You may have bipolar; it may be something else as well. How long have you had these symptoms? In order to find out, I would suggest getting an assessment done. An assessment will give you an accurate diagnosis which will help you find a way to treat these behaviours.

If you get an assessment and you do not have bipolar, you may want to consider counseling non-the-less because it will help you stabilize your moods, which will lead to better relationships with the people in your life.

You can get an assessment at Insight Psychological (780-461-1717), The Family Center (780-424-5580) or The Support Network (780-482-0198).
