I am having a tough time opening up to my boyfriend, and I can’t figure out exactly what might be causing it. The only thing that I can really think of is being scared of what might happen and come as time goes on. I don’t know what to do. Can you help me?

Dating creates a lot of uncertainty. Have there been other times in your life when you felt uncertain? Did you experience similar feelings then?

It’s difficult to open up sometimes if you fear being hurt, rejected, or unaccepted. I would suggest talking to your boyfriend about your hesitations, and letting him know it is not about him. Maybe you and your boyfriend would like to speak to a therapist together. Or perhaps you would like to come in on you own in order to sort out your feelings and explore your hesitations. You can book an appointment here at Insight Psychological (780-461-1717), or you could try The Support Network (780-482-0198), or The Distress Line (780-482-4357)
