Alan asked 12 years ago

I am 49 and had anxiety which has sometimes led to depression since I was 15. I have tried everything from medications to therapy to meditation ect. I finally found a path with spirituality and was doing fantastic. I had not felt as good since I was a child. In June 2010 i was t-boned by a car and suffered a severe concussion. I tried to stay positive but with the headaches and dizziness things began to slip. It is emberassing to do things as it is very hard to follow conversations ect. I don’t feel my Dr really listens to what I am telling him. He says I’ve been checked out and all is ok.I have got back to going to the gym but its very hard. Other than the gym and working 4 hours a day I stay at home and basicaly do nothing.I feel myself becoming depressed. I basicaly can’t do anything because of my feeling dizzy, like i’m in a fog all the time. It’s not for lack of trying.

Alan,

Thank you for turning to Insight Psychological for help.  It sounds like you were on the path to success and solutions prior to your car accident.  Despite the challenges you’re facing, there is a lot of strength in your story.  You are alive and able to recognize what you need in order to attain a sense of satisfaction and happiness in life.  It also doesn’t sound like you’ve given up.  You are obviously very strong, resilient, and hopeful and those characteristics will support you in finding a new path to solutions that is realistic and meaningful for you.

In regards to your symptoms, I highly encourage you to obtain a referral from your doctor to a specialist that can perform a battery of tests to ensure that there are no underlying conditions that are creating or exacerbating the headaches, dizziness, etc. I also encourage you to book an appointment with one of our wonderful therapists to discover new ways of living a more satisfying life.

All the best,

Ashley Tulloch
