Edmonton Employee and Family Assistance Services

In this era where advanced technology, progressive training and increasingly complex job and life demands are becoming the norm, it is unavoidable for the working population to experience increased stress, fatigue, job concerns, personal difficulties, family problems or other issues that impact their physical, mental and emotional health.

The Canadian Mental Health Association states that approximately 15% of al workers will eventually develop emotional, physical or social problems that will interfere with their productivity.

Our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) enables employees to deal with their problems and concerns before they result in significant job performance or interpersonal difficulties.

A properly tailored Employee and Family Assistance Program can effectively help organizations and their employees examine, address, and resolve these concerns. With a dynamic approach to employee and family assistance INSIGHT offers innovation and pro-activeness when creating customized solutions for each organization and employee it serves.

Insight's mission

Insight's mission is to enhance the overall psychological and physical well-being of people through the pro-active delivery of awareness and prevention programs, the prompt provision of effective intervention services as well as the diligent assistance to individuals in exploring and securing benefit-added resources and treatment alternatives.

Cost Benefits

There are many evidences to show that the measurable benefits of a good EFAP far outweigh the cost that is needed to implement and maintain the program.

  • Health and welfare Canada reported a yield of $9.00 per $1.00 invested (Goddard, 1989).
  • The Royal Bank reported a $14.00 to $1.00 return on their EFAP investment (Goddard, 1989).
  • The Hospital for Sick Children reported a 35% reduction in Workers Compensation Claims, leading to a $134,000 reduction in premium costs, plus a %543,000 refund. On these criteria alone there was a $2.00 to $1.00 return on EFAP investment.
  • Burlington Northern Railroad claims a return of $14.00 to $1.00 for their EFAP investment (Bureau of National Affairs, 1987).
  • Central Canada Grocers, in a two- year study, found that participants in their EFAP had decreased absenteeism by 71%, decreased lateness by 83% and increased productivity by 60%.
