Pathlogical liar fiancé

My fiancé told me from the beginning he was a recovered drug addict and has been to prison . I accepted who he was despite not being fond of these traits he also told my whole family about this past .i found out he lied along with a lot of other things!! Is he sick?

Thank you for your question and I'm sorry to hear that your fiance had been lying to you.  Without further exploration, it is difficult to say why he lied to you and what his intentions were.  Often times, people lie because they want to protect their partner or they fear the rejection of their partner.  The downside of lying is that they don't consider the consequences of being dishonest in their relationship.  If you would like to explore this issue further, I encourage you to book an appointment with one of our therapists at Insight so that you and your fiance can work through this issue effectively.
