Marriage help

When booking appointments for marriage counselling do you initially talk to the couple separately or together? And what is the approach your counsellers take?

Michelle,

Great question! Generally speaking, our counsellors meet with both partners during the first session. Depending on the presenting issues and the counsellor's therapeutic approach to working with couples, the therapist will collaborate with both partners to determine what will be most useful. It is often most effective to work with both partners in session rather than each partner individually.

Each counsellor takes a unique approach to therapy that is often based on their experience, training, and personal worldviews. If you would like to make an appointment for couples therapy, take a look at our counsellors online to see if there is one that may be a good fit and contact the office nearest you.

Sincerely,

Ashley Tulloch
