exam anxiety and irrational fears help

I have an anxiety problem that I take medication for. I get anxiety really bad right before I write exams, sometimes even the entire day before-hand. This is anxiety to the point of feeling flu-like symptoms. A few years ago I vomited in the middle of an exam, and now whenever I write an exam I have an irrational fear that this will happen again. Is there a way to reverse this irrational fear and/or eliminate the anxiety I get about writing exams?

Peter,

You've come to the right place for help.  There is a possibility for things to be different for you.  In terms of addressing your test anxiety, it sounds like you would benefit from a cognitive-behavioural approach to therapy.  I encourage you to book an appointment with a therapist at our office to target and modify your maladaptive patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving so that you can effectively write exams in the future.

I wish you all the best,

Ashley Tulloch
